What to Expect
What to Bring
Matt here. Wishing you well. Most students bring a towel or older yoga mat to play on. The field can sometimes be muddy and wet. We’re outside, so sun protection and layers are recommended. Also, don’t forget water so you can stay hydrated. There are public bathrooms nearby and water fountains. There is ample space to spread out and stake as your own.
Introductions
We usually start class with brief introductions. It’s a great way to get to know each other, make a connection, and get some motivation from your neighbor. Generally I open it up for a quick share or two. It helps break the ice and get people to relate more quickly to what we are all working on: movement, yoga, life, etc. Just the other day we discovered two students were in the same professional coaching program!
Class Breakdown
Movement starts with a gentle warmup that’s related to some more complicated or challenging skill. Standing and ground work are combined into a flowing movement sequence that helps build strength, flexibility, balance and overall focused coordination. Skill work is combined with play. When was the last time you tested what your body was capable of (in a loving kindness sort of way)? Generally, we cool down with some floor work, specific core exercises and deeper stretching. Everything is tied together with mindfulness meditation at the end.
